Just a day before the Derby della Lanterna, Genoa Coach Davide Ballardini went on a rant at journalists in his Press conference.

The tactician came out for the planned event, but did not answer any questions, instead going through the problems with an article about his tenure.

“I read in a newspaper that the results have not improved since I arrived,” he said of his 10 points from six games since replacing Gian Piero Gasperini.

“Now there are only two options here. Either they didn't look up the statistics or they are purposefully trying to make me look bad.

“It is a real shame, as the truth should be told.”

Genoa face a crunch match on Sunday evening against local rivals Sampdoria.

“This squad is unified and professional with very important human qualities as well as footballing ones,” continued Ballardini.

“The team did its duty to the full, despite the difficulties caused by injuries. Just look at the fact we've missed Rodrigo Palacio and Giuseppe Sculli, who were last season's top scorers.

“As for the derby, words do not count in these situations. The only thing that matters is what happens on the pitch.”

After making these statements, Ballardini walked away from the press conference without taking questions.
