“I regret taking the Lazio job, as I never should’ve accepted that disastrous situation,” the coach told RadioSei.

“I regret taking the Lazio job, as I never should’ve accepted that disastrous situation,” the coach told RadioSei.

“There were three players frozen out like Cristian Ledesma, Goran Pandev and Lorenzo De Silvestri. It was assumed we’d sell them during the summer, but after the transfer strategy changed, the problems emerged.

“Despite the fact that Biancocelesti squad was not competitive, we still managed to win the Italian Supercup and did well in Serie A. I made a mistake accepting the role in that context and I shouldn’t have shared their strategy.

“I had given my word and that means something to me, even though it was a completely mad decision. I had already thought about resigning at the start of September, when the transfer window closed. I should’ve done it then, really.”
