Davide Ballardini maintains Genoa “were a little lucky against Inter, but also in control of the game in every moment” after a 2-0 victory.

Genoa have been transformed since Ballardini took over from Ivan Juric, putting together seven wins, three draws and three losses.

“When it was time to play beautiful football, we did that, and caused Inter real problems. When it was time to soak up pressure, everyone helped, including the strikers,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“When it was time to play beautiful football, we did that, and caused Inter real problems. When it was time to soak up pressure, everyone helped, including the strikers,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“We were in control of the game in every moment, against a great team with talented players. We always held out comfortably.

“This is a team where everyone helps out, they all participate in the attacking and defending. They have the effort and the quality. There’s still a long way to go and we must keep up this momentum to the end of the season.

“I think we can do even better in controlling the ball and attacking with more players, but always maintaining the right balance.”

The Nerazzurri have won only once in over two months, but Ballardini doesn’t see a crisis.

“Inter seemed in my view to be in good shape, it’s just that tonight we did very well and were a little lucky, but you need that against the Nerazzurri. They’ll still challenge to the end for a place in the Champions League.

“It was important that we didn’t get too flat and give too much of the pitch to Inter. We attacked their wingers and did it better in the first half than the second.”
