Boca Juniors striker Calleri is expected to arrive in January and then go out on loan for six months, at least that’s what his agent claimed.

“We are tracking him, he has an interesting profile, but right now there is nothing more. I read some things that made me smile. There is no deal,” added Ausilio.

“We worked very hard over the summer and if you do things right then January can be relatively calm. We don’t need big changes.

“We are surprised by how well the 10 new players have settled in and Roberto Mancini did a great job. We don’t want to relax, but we’ll see where we are in March.”

Ausilio was also asked about the decision to sack Walter Mazzarri in November 2014.

“It is a difficult part of the job and last year there was an unusual atmosphere. Mazzarri worked well, but the atmosphere around the club had become surreal.

“Hearing your own fans against you in the stadium does not help, so there was a lack of confidence. We made the decision only because we knew that we could get Mancini, otherwise we would’ve continued with Mazzarri.”
