Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio insists Mauro Icardi won’t leave – “he’s our captain and he’s not for sale”.

The striker’s wife and agent, Wanda, claimed yesterday that the Nerazzurri had put him up for sale but the club has moved to deny that.

“I found what happened yesterday totally out of place, but I enjoyed it,” Ausilio claimed in Caner Erkin’s presentation Press conference.

“Icardi renewed a year ago, he’s our captain and as far as we’re concerned he’s not for sale.

“In addition to Icardi there are 10-11 players who are unsellable and who we’re focusing on. We need to add something, but we’re talking about two or three players, no more.”

Ausilio then answered questions about a number of potential targets, starting with Brazilian prospect Gabriel Jesus.

“We like him a lot, but everyone wants him. We’re there, we’ll see if the arguments we’ve put forward will convince him.

“There’s so much competition though, some clubs started even earlier than us.

“Antonio Candreva? We never made an offer, he’s a player we like but we’ve never talked to Lazio or [President Claudio] Lotito. Financially speaking he’s not in our plans.

“Domenico Berardi? I think this is the first time I’ve spoken about Berardi. Meeting Sassuolo is normal, we asked about the player’s availability, but also others.

“The answer was negative. That’s it.”
