Augsburg have set their sights on Inter and Italy Under-21 international defender Cristiano Biraghi.

The left-back is seen as the ideal replacement for Abdul Rahman Baba, who is heading towards Chelsea this summer.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, German side Augsburg have made enquiries about Biraghi after seeing him in action during the European Under-21 Championship.

He is captain of the Azzurrini and in the middle of a two-year loan agreement with Chievo.

However, 22-year-old Biraghi could be sold to help raise funds for their transfer campaign.

Above all, he is a home-grown player who came up through the Inter ranks, so any sale would count as a big profit for the books.

There are also Serie A sides interested in Biraghi, namely Verona and Empoli, should he interrupt the Chievo loan early.
