The fall-out from Napoli’s exit to Arsenal in the Europa League continues with a reported rift between Coach Carlo Ancelotti and captain Insigne seeming difficult to repair.
Ancelotti replaced Insigne early in the second half in their 1-0 loss to the Gunners on Thursday night and the forward didn’t take being substituted too well.
The captain refused to join his teammates on the bench, standing for the rest of the game, and was loudly whistled and jeered by some home fans.
A face to face meeting between Ancelotti and the captain was held yesterday at Castel Volturno to defuse the situation.
Insigne is said to be growing tired of being the scapegoat and not receiving any support from the club, so he could now be open to the possibility of a move away from the San Paolo.
