Atalanta winger Jeremie Boga is on the verge of a transfer to French side OGC Nice for close to €20m.

According to various sources including Sportitalia and Calciomercato.com, the deal is in the final stages and the details are being whittled down between the two clubs.

Between the fixed transfer fee and performance-related bonuses, the entire cost of the operation is expected to be around €20m.

This is close to the €22m that was paid to sign him from Sassuolo in 2022.

Formerly part of the Chelsea academy, Boga had loan spells at Rennes, Granada and Birmingham before the €10m sale to Sassuolo in the summer of 2018.

Now 26, he has 12 senior caps for the Ivory Coast, scoring one goal.

Boga was one of the most expensive players ever bought by Atalanta, but he struggled to regain his form after contracting COVID-19.

Unusually, he continued to test positive for six weeks, far longer than most people, and took a long time to recapture that explosive change of pace.

He scored only four goals and provided six assists in 47 competitive appearances for Atalanta.
