La Dea have long been known for discovering or re-evaluating talents and then selling them on at a profit, so inevitably there are reports that Juventus, Inter, Milan and several Premier League clubs are looking at Koopmeiners for next summer.
“We are concentrated on what we are doing now,” replied CEO Percassi to DAZN when asked about the Dutch midfielder’s future.
Today is the 26th birthday of Koopmeiners, who scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 29 competitive games for Atalanta this season.
“We can only thank Pagliuca, who puts in the ideal conditions to work and even refuse important offers. Koop is crucial, we are enjoying his presence and in the future we will see.”
Atalanta are in the Europa League Round of 16, the Coppa Italia semi-final and have tonight’s rescheduled Week 21 fixture, so it really is a packed schedule.
“All games are important, but we are happy to be in a position to play them. The work we’ve done so far is something to be proud of and the next three months are going to be exciting.
“We know full well where we come from and what our reality is, so being protagonists in three competitions is something Atalanta fans only ever dreamed of.”
There are some concerns over Gianluca Scamacca, who was a big signing from West Ham United, but has struggled to show any intensity.
“He was wanted by everyone. There have always been big expectations, it means he is an important player. We must have patience, he has great capabilities and Atalanta made a big investment in him. We are happy to have him and are certain that his quality will emerge in the long run.”
