Despite the downturn in form and arrival of new investors, Atalanta director Umberto Marino assures coach Gian Piero Gasperini is ‘not up for debate.’

Gasp is the longest-running coach currently in Serie A, having taken over in the summer of 2016 and recently signed a contract to June 2024.

He took them from relegation battlers to regulars in the Champions League and this term reached the Europa League quarter-finals, but their domestic form has taken a massive turn for the worse.

Considering the club is now co-owned by American investor Stephen Pagliuca and big investments are expected, could it be the end of the road for Gasperini?

“I always say, Gasperini’s position is not up for debate,” director general Marino told DAZN.

“We will go forward with the characteristics that the coach has given to this squad. We’re with him for life.”

Atalanta are coming off three consecutive Serie A defeats for the first time in Gasperini’s tenure.

They risk not qualifying for Europe and are this afternoon playing at the Stadio Penzo against Venezia.

Since arriving in 2016, Gasperini has overseen 285 competitive games on the Atalanta bench, with 141 wins, 71 draws and 67 defeats.
