Pierpaolo Marino is back in the Italian game after he was appointed as Atalanta's new technical director.

Marino hasn't worked since he was sacked as director general at Napoli in 2009 after five years with the club.

"I want to lower the 28-year-old average age of a side that got to Serie A ," Marino told Sky Sport 24 on Monday afternoon.

"I also need to make sure the finances are kept in order.

"Our objective for the new season is to avoid relegation without any great difficulties, even if that won't be easy."

Atalanta are back in the top flight after they were promoted from Serie B along with Siena and Novara.

"Our transfer objective is to assemble an attacking department which is good enough for the top Division," Marino continued.
