Fiorentina captain Davide Astori says the Viola are beginning a new cycle tonight against Inter.

The Florenceside face their opponents at San Siro, with Coach Stefano Pioli taking charge of his first competitive match since being sacked by the Nerazzurri towards the end of last season.

Speaking to the Inter Channel ahead of kick off, the 30-year-old also admitted previous boss Paulo Sousa’s Viola tenure had been riddled by uncertainty.

“We have begun a new cycle and it’s never easy to change so much after two seasons of uncertainty,” Astori commented.

“Even we need to find out where we can finish, but we are ambitious.”

The defender said he and his teammates need no motivation to perform in one of the standout fixtures of Serie A’s opening day.

“There won’t be any need for extra motivation as we are playing Inter.

“Pioli is going for it like we are and as always we will show our response on the pitch.”
