Davide Astori’s family have asked for ‘rigorous silence’, amidst conflicting reports about the Fiorentina captain’s death.
It was reported last week that Astori’s autopsy revealed he may not have died in his sleep back in March and could have been suffering from an undiagnosed heart condition.

It was reported last week that Astori’s autopsy revealed he may not have died in his sleep back in March and could have been suffering from an undiagnosed heart condition.
However, a statement released by his family reads: “We don’t know where this news has come from, while it is all extremely confusing, sometimes contradictory or superficial and therefore misleading, since all the information from clinical investigations and medico-legal relationships are still confined to the Public Prosecutors’ Office in Udine, to the point that not even our family, until now the only people involved, are aware of it.
“For this and out of respect for Davide, as well as ourselves, and without forgetting the extraordinary affection that you’ve shown us in the last few months, we ask that the most rigorous silence, with regards to the ongoing investigations by the Public Prosecutor, is maintained.
“We’re certain that you understand the reasons for our request, dictated by the extreme difficulties of the times we find ourselves in. Thank you, the Astori family.”
