Inter have reportedly told Arsenal to forget about even starting negotiations for Italy midfielder Nicolò Barella.

According to FCInterNews.it, an initial approach was made from the Premier League side and immediately rebuffed in no uncertain terms.

Arsenal had already been in the running for Barella when he left Cagliari last summer in a deal worth €37m.

It was spread out, so technically a loan for €12m with obligation to buy in July 2020 for a further €25m, plus bonuses.

The 23-year-old has been a regular in Antonio Conte’s squad, with three goals and six assists in 29 competitive games.

Inter fully intend to build their future midfield around the young player, who already has three goals in 12 senior caps for Italy.
