Arsenal have made Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo their primary target to reinforce the midfield in January, claim multiple sources.

There are far too many obstacles in the way of Olympique Lyonnais player Bruno Guimaraes, so Arthur has moved to the top of the wish-list for Mikel Arteta.

According to RMC Sport, Arsenal are in ‘advanced negotiations’ with Juventus to take Arthur on loan for the rest of the season.

However, Sky Sport Italia transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano maintains the talks are at an earlier stage and still a long way off completion.

Arthur was brought in from Barcelona in September 2020 as part of an exchange deal for Miralem Pjanic, a swap that 18 months on neither club is happy with.

The value of the transfer was announced as €76m plus up to another €6m in various bonuses.

The Brazilian has made only 11 competitive appearances for Juventus this season and is under contract until June 2025.

  1. Doubtful they can afford the elite 76 MILLION EURO man. Rube will need to find another trade. Maybe Xhaka in an exchange valued at 65 million (accounting for amortization)? Lol.

  2. Arthur he does as he pleases – when you get caught between the moon and New York City……
