The 34-year-old officially moved to his home-town club on Wednesday, but has spoken of his love for the Partenopei and has commented on some of his achievements at Stadio San Paolo.

The 34-year-old officially moved to his home-town club on Wednesday, but has spoken of his love for the Partenopei and has commented on some of his achievements at Stadio San Paolo.

“I accepted this transfer with pleasure,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss. “To play for the team in the city where you were born is always exciting.

“But Napoli will always remain in my heart. I spent an intense five years there and did things I thought were impossible.

“I want to thank the President, the Coach, my teammates and the fans for what they gave me and for what we achieved together.

“Along with the excitement of the Champions League, I will always remember the joy of winning the Coppa Italia.”
