Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has been left out of the Argentina squad for their June games, allowing him to rest after the Champions League Final against Manchester City.

The centre-forward was a regular starter in the side that won the World Cup in Qatar in 2022, despite a recurring right ankle issue that continued to cause problems throughout the season.

While the Serie A season comes to an end next weekend, Inter will continue their campaign until the Champions League Final with Manchester City in Istanbul on June 10.

With all of that in mind, Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni has decided to leave Lautaro Martinez out of the squad going on a tour of Asia in June.

The other Serie A players are involved, specifically Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes of Juventus, Fiorentina striker Nico Gonzalez and Giovanni Simeone of Napoli.

This rest period should allow Lautaro Martinez to fully recover without constantly using pain-killing injections.
