The comparison came after 22-year-old Bernardeschi’s brace in a 3-3 thriller with Napoli on Thursday evening, above all the snapshot from distance that flew into the far bottom corner.
“The goal he scored against Napoli reminded me of one I netted for Italy against Greece in December 1980. A sudden vertical move and then a cannon-shot from distance,” Antognoni told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Bernardeschi has taken on several different roles in midfield, as a trequartista or a winger, and scored 10 goals in 24 competitive games this season.
“I would call him a 10 and a Half, somewhere between a classic 10 and an 11. He has the power and precision in his shot of Robben, but can also work as a trequartista, starting from a more central role.
“It was wonderful to see him wear the captain’s armband against Lazio this season. He is another great Number 10 in the history of Fiorentina.
“Italian football is in good shape now, as there are many talented young players and we’re not far off the other superpowers.”
