It is reported that AZ Alkmaar have again rejected an offer from Milan for Tijjani Reijnders, but the two clubs are likely to do a deal for €22m.

The Rossoneri had already seen one proposal turned down and increased it to circa €18m.

There was a very long delay with no response and Calciomercato.com Milan correspondent Daniele Longo claims this evening the reply finally arrived in the negative.

However, at the same time, AZ Alkmaar are also prepared to lower the initial €25m asking price after work from the player and his intermediaries.

Therefore, they should be able to do a deal over the next few days for a total of €22-23m including performance-related bonuses that are relatively easy to attain.

The Dutch midfielder has long been identified as Stefano Pioli’s ideal replacement for Sandro Tonali, who was sold to Newcastle United for €80m including add-ons.

Reijnders will turn 25 later this month and impressed last season with seven goals and 12 assists in 54 competitive games for AZ Alkmaar.
