Fiorentina confirm Franck Ribery will undergo surgery to stabilise his ankle and it remains to be seen how long he’ll be out for.

“Franck Ribery had a check-up today to ascertain the cause of the pain he has been feeling when making certain movements. To ensure he can return to action soon, a minor surgical procedure will be completed in the coming hours.”

The veteran contributed two goals and two assists in 11 Serie A appearances this season.

He suffered a badly sprained ankle on December 1 and has already skipped two matches.

An operation to stabilise the ankle was suggested, which could speed up the recovery time, and he’ll go under the knife today or tomorrow.
