Carlo Ancelotti will quit Bayern Munich in January in order to move to China, claims former midfielder Mario Basler.

The Italian tactician has been in Bavaria for just one year, leading the Allianz Arena club to the Bundesliga title in his only season in charge so far.

However, following Bayern’s surprise 2-0 defeat to Hoffenheim yesterday, Basler said he understands Ancelotti has already signed a contract to sensationally move to the Far East in the middle of the European season.

However, following Bayern’s surprise 2-0 defeat to Hoffenheim yesterday, Basler said he understands Ancelotti has already signed a contract to sensationally move to the Far East in the middle of the European season.

“I’ve heard that Ancelotti has signed a contract with a Chinese club,” Basler began.

“From what I know he will leave in the winter because that is when the season starts in China.”

The former player added that although he cannot be 100 per cent sure of Ancelotti’s intentions, he trusts his source.

“I can’t confirm it to be 100 per cent true, but my source is reliable.

“Let’s put it this way, I can’t say anything negative about my source, which I trust.

“It’s not a given that it will happen, but that is the rumour going around.”

Former Milanboss Ancelotti still has two years to run on his contract at Bayern.
