He had argued that he was trying to help the referee by calming his furious players down, but was then shown a red card.
Ancelotti complained afterwards that he felt “attacked” by the officials and lodged a last-minute appeal at the CONI headquarters in Rome this morning against the one-match ban.
However, the appeal was rejected, so his son and assistant manager Davide Ancelotti will be on the bench today.
