The 32-year-old has signed a contract extension until 2015 with the Elefanti, and the former Udinese man has insisted that he always wanted to stay.
“I am really happy to stay and I want to thank Catania,” he told the club's official website.
“I hope next season will be better for me on a personal level, and also for the team.
“We want to try and do better as a team, and grow together to reach new heights.”
