After a brief wobble in negotiations, Lazio have now agreed to sell Luis Maximiano to Almeria, Gianluca Di Marzio details.

The Biancocelesti have decided to cut the 24-year-old Portuguese shot stopper just 12 months after his arrival, following his disastrous debut season in the Italian capital.

He was shown a red card just six minutes into his first match and his confidence never recovered, allowing Ivan Provedel to take over the starting role.

Di Marzio details how Lazio have now agreed to sell Luis Maximiano to Almeria, allowing him to return to Spain after a year in the Italian capital. Recent reports suggested that the deal would be a loan with a €9m obligation to buy clause attached.

Talks between the two clubs appeared to stall last week but progress has been made and a deal could be finalised in the coming days.

Luis Maximiano only made six appearances for Lazio in his debut season, becoming the second-string option after Provedel’s impressive emergence.
