The midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, but the Bianconeri rejected their first offer.

Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho admitted that they have other targets in mind, potentially indicating a stall in negotiations.

“Right now he’s still a Juventus player,” Allegri told reporters in a Press conference in Melbourne.

“We don’t know what will happen in the course of the next week, but we’re confident.

“At the end of the transfer window we’ll have a very strong team. Dani Alves, [Medhi] Benatia, [Miralem] Pjanic and [Marko] Pjaca have come in.

“When the window closes the team will be very strong.”

UPDATE: TuttoJuve is reporting some further comments from Allegri from the Press conference, in which he seemed less certain of holding on to Pogba.

"When we return to Turin I'll have all the big names available. The club is working well on the transfer market and I'm calm in working with the team that I have to prepare for the League, which starts on August 21.

"Pogba? At the moment he's a Juventus player, but as I say the transfer window is open and the club are vigilant.

"The fact is the club has bought four key players to improve the team in Pjanic, Dani Alves, Pjaca and Benatia.

"I'm sure on August 31 we'll have a competitive team in Italy and in Europe."
