There are growing reports that Max Allegri will pull a big surprise in the Juventus midfield for tonight’s showdown with Inter, as Manuel Locatelli is not fully fit.

It kicks off at the Allianz Juventus Stadium at 19.45 GMT.

The Bianconeri are widely expected to start Dusan Vlahovic with Federico Chiesa upfront, while Timothy Weah, Danilo and Mattia De Sciglio are injured.

There is only one major doubt and that is in midfield, where Locatelli is still struggling after withdrawing from international duty with a cracked rib.

If he is unable to start, then Fabio Miretti was expected to be the next logical choice.

However, Sky Sport Italia now suggest that Hans Nicolussi Caviglia is going to get the nod.

The 23-year-old is a product of the Juventus youth academy, who had loan spells at Parma, Perugia, Sudtirol and Salernitana.

He made only one appearance this season for two minutes off the bench in the 2-1 win over Cagliari on November 11.

Nicolussi Caviglia’s career was stalled by a serious knee injury in December 2020 and he did not make a full recovery until the start of the 2022-23 season.

There seem to be few doubts over the Inter starting XI, with Alessandro Bastoni, Benjamin Pavard and Alexis Sanchez injured, while ex-Juve full-back Juan Cuadrado should be on the bench.

Probable line-ups

Juventus: Szczesny; Gatti, Bremer, Rugani; Cambiaso, McKennie, Nicolussi Caviglia, Rabiot, Kostic; Vlahovic, Chiesa

Inter: Sommer; Darmian, De Vrij, Acerbi; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Lautaro Martinez
