There is some good news from Napoli, because after captain Lorenzo Insigne tested positive for COVID-19, none of his teammates were infected.

It was announced this morning that Insigne had tested positive for the Coronavirus.

He is double-jabbed, but it is not known if he received his booster vaccination yet.

There were naturally concerns that it would spread throughout the squad, but Napoli confirmed this evening that all the other tests came back negative.

Their Serie A match against Spezia, scheduled for Wednesday evening, will therefore go ahead as planned.

It’s hardly the first time there have been COVID cases in the Napoli side, as Matteo Politano and Diego Demme tested positive last month.

The Serie A protocol usually requires teams to play on, unless the local health authority (ASL) over-rules them with a quarantine order.

As the other Napoli players tested negative, the ASL is not expected to intervene.
