Milan defender Alex has admitted he didn’t want to leave Paris Saint-Germain, but insists he ‘did not think twice’ about joining the Rossoneri.
The Brazilian moved to San Siro in the summer at the expiry of his contract with the Ligue 1 side, but has revealed his first option would have been to stay put.
“I miss Paris, it’s a wonderful city,” Alex has told Canal Plus. “I’ve already been back once, because I have several friends there.
“I wanted to extend my PSG contract by a year, but I don’t think there was the same willingness from the Parisian club.
“We talked about it for a week and then for a long time there was no more news. It was a very difficult situation for me.
“When I had the opportunity to come to Milan, I did not think twice.
“PSG wanted to sign a younger player than me [David Luiz], you have to accept it.
“David Luiz alongside Thiago Silva, the defensive partnership of the Brazilian national team, it was an excellent idea.
“From my point of view I found it unfair because I was coming off a very good season, one of the best in my career.
“On the other hand, things like that can happen in football, I’m not sad.”
Alex also reserved praise for former Milan defender Thiago Silva.
“He’s the best defender in the world, that’s indisputable to me. He’s a complete player, he has everything.
“He’s going to get back to fitness and have a great season.”
