Juventus President Andrea Agnelli says he is happy to see Antonio Conte on the Italy bench, and there is no controversy with Claudio Lotito.

The Bianconeri split with their three-time Scudetto-winning Coach just two days into pre-season and shortly saw him succeed Cesare Prandelli in the Italy hotseat.

For Conte’s former President, though, there is no animosity aimed in his direction.

“It gave me pleasure to see Antonio on the bench of the national team, he's a quality Coach,” Agnelli has said via the Juventus website today.

“What needed to be said on the fact that we went separate ways in July has already been said and nothing more needs to be added.

“Conte had the opportunity to lead Italy, he was sought after and it gives me great pleasure. I heard from him immediately after his nomination to wish him good luck because he deserves it.

“To Conte and to the Italian national team I cannot but wish them the best of luck, starting with Euro 2016.”

Agnelli also touched on the controversy surrounding Claudio Lotito. The Lazio President raised eyebrows over the past fortnight in closely following Conte and the Italian national team during preparations for games with the Netherlands and Norway.

Agnelli insisted that Lotito, who is also a FIGC director in assistance to President Carlo Tavecchio, has absolutely no say on technical matters and that the whole controvery was simply a media fabrication.

“On the field with the national team, Conte is in control, of this I have little doubt,” Agnelli has commented.

“Lotito has no say on the technical side of things. His presence with the team is only interesting to journalists for their headlines.

“Claudio Lotito is a Federal director who put a lot of effort in the electoral campaign for Tavecchio's presidency.

“They got the Federal presidency and they have a project for the development of Italian football.

“The hope is that they put forward this work because Italian football is in great need of reform. The work that Lotito needs to carry out is difficult.”
