The Croatian international has agreed a deal with the Nerazzurri, but negotiations between the clubs are proving to be more tricky.

“The deal is not completely done,” Tonci Martic explained, updating FCInterNews on the situation.

“There’s still some distance between the two clubs, and as I’ve said before, it requires patience.

“Am I optimistic? Personally, yes, but Wolfsburg are very reluctant to sell the player. Ivan has two more years on his contract, and has a lot of respect for the club.

“The club, for their part, feel he is important for their project, because of his ability and tactical flexibility. I repeat, it’ll take a lot of patience.”

Martic also revealed that his client had turned down an improved contract with the Bundesliga side.

“He was offered a renewal. At the moment it’s not something we’re considering, so we declined.”
