The Argentina international was reported to be set for a Nerazzurri medical later this month ahead of moving to Milan in June.

However, agent Marcelo Simonian has contradicted those claims and says that Sevilla can automatically renew Banega’s contract after 30 appearances.

The midfielder has already made 23 outings this season, scoring six goals, and therefore looks more than likely to pass this threshold.

“The first thing I want to say, and I’m reading a lot of things, is that I haven’t signed anything with anyone,” Simonian told ABC.

“There are a lot of interested teams, but I can say that we’ve not signed with Inter or anyone else.

“I’d be lying if I said that there haven’t been clubs calling, but then there’s been nothing from here to a signature.

“This week we spoke with Sevilla, I know that they appreciate him and have decided to meet in Spain in about 10 days.

“I know Ever and I know he’s happy at Sevilla. But obviously we’ll take everything into consideration.

“The clause? It’s one-sided in favour of Sevilla. That’s to say, if you play a certain amount of matches (30), the club can automatically renew his contract.

“What would I say about this player? It’s expected in the contract.”
