The agent of Napoli winger Dries Mertens has ruled out any potential transfer for the Belgian international.

The 27-year-old has been mainly deployed as a substitute for Rafa Benitez’s side this season, but his representative insists he’s not thinking about leaving.

“I can’t talk about the transfer market, but it’s obvious every good player will be the subject of rumours,” Soren Lerby told Radio Crc.

“However, Dries is only focused on Napoli, because he loves Naples. He’ll definitely stay with Napoli next season.”

Lerby then spoke about the Partenopei’s Europa League campaign, after the 3-1 first leg win over Dynamo Moscow last night.

“I’m happy about Napoli’s win, they had a very good game against Dynamo Moscow.

“Dries is also very happy at the moment, he’s doing well, but he knows he must be careful, because the Europa League is a tough competition and the second leg can be dangerous.

“Benitez has figured out how to get the best out of Mertens, and figuring out a player’s best position is crucial, not just for the player to do their best, but for the team.

“No competition is more important than the other, Napoli want to do well in the League, the Coppa Italia and the Europa League.”
