The defender lost his place in the side to Elseid Hysaj last season, making just four starts under Coach Maurizio Sarri.
“I think the situation has changed a bit from last year,” Massimo Briaschi said on Radio Marte.
“He had done very well in the pre-season training camp, and he’s ready to play for his place if Napoli decide to keep him. If not, we’ll find the ideal situation for the player and Napoli.

“If another full-back arrives? In that case we’d evaluate things, he isn’t at Napoli to make up the numbers. If he’s part of the project he’s happy to keep wearing the blue shirt.
“The problems with Sarri aren’t down to the formation, he started playing in a back-four only after [Walter] Mazzarri changed the system.
“He was playing in a four-man defence with [Rafa] Benitez too.”
