The defender was close to leaving the Partenopei this summer, but has instead become a key element of Maurizio Sarri’s side.

The Senegalese international was linked with Everton this summer, but his agent denies a deal could be resurrected in January.

“Could he move to Everton? No, Kalidou will not leave Napoli,” Bruno Satin insisted in an interview with Radio Crc.

“He’s playing for something important. His contract has a long way to go, and it’s only at the end of the season, if Napoli receive offers they want to consider that we’ll talk.

“I don’t know if the club wants to put faith in Koulibaly long-term, but I met [sporting director Cristiano] Giuntoli in Denmark and he’s very happy with the work my client is doing.

“When you want to put your faith in a player, you also tie them down with a contract adjustment. Giuntoli and I had a chat, but we haven’t dealt with the subject of a renewal yet.

“We want to keep the lad concentrated, because he’s going through a good period.

“What is certain is that if he continues to do well, then the offers will come, because Koulibaly is young and plays in one of the most sought-after positions in Europe.

“It’s not easy for a foreigner to play at Napoli, because there’s pressure, and to handle that isn’t easy.

“Before arriving at Napoli, we spoke to Barcelona, and they said he wasn’t ready. But at this level, Koulibaly could also be of interest to a club like Barça, he’s grown a lot.”

Satin also admitted that his client found the summer speculation difficult, but is now looking to improve even further.

“The summer was hard for Kalidou, but he was persuaded to stay at Napoli because he knew this would be a good year for the club.

“Of course, Koulibaly still has to improve, and he can do it, but he’s aware of his ability after last season and still had more desire to show his value.

“He wants to try and be one of the team’s best players.”
