Maxi Meza’s agent says there’s “very real interest from Inter” for his client, who played for Argentina at the World Cup.

The Independiente attacking midfielder only won his first cap for the Albiceleste in March, but was frequently deployed from the bench by Coach Jorge Sampaoli.

“Yes, I had contacts and meetings with [Inter sporting director] Piero Ausilio,” Sergio Carrizzo told PassioneInter.

“I can’t tell you the outcome of that, because at the moment it’s not possible to talk, but yes there has been very real interest from Inter.

“I don’t want to talk about figures, it’s been agreed with the management that if an important offer arrives it will be evaluated.

“Ausilio knows how much it costs to buy him, we obviously very much hope the deal will be successful. It would be nice to be able to go to a club like Inter.

“Ausilio just has to call me, then if there’s a concrete offer I’ll tell the player and we’ll take it to the club.

“Javier Zanetti? I haven’t had the pleasure of speaking with him, but Pupi definitely knows Maxi’s qualities very well.

“He’s a real star, a player of the highest level who is ready to make the jump to European football.

“There are also two English, one German and one Spanish team. We’re waiting to see what happens, if a concrete offer doesn’t arrive, Maxi will stay in Argentina.”
