Marco Borriello is the “best Italian striker” and should go to the World Cup in 2018, his agent declares.

The Cagliari striker has eight goals in nine games across all competitions this season, and his representative feels he’s being overlooked.

“Marco is a champion,” Andrea D’Amico proclaimed, speaking to Tuttomercatoweb.

“He has intution, technical ability, tactical skill and the ability to read the game. Right now he’s the best Italian striker, he changed the game at San Siro [against Inter].

“He’d have done well wherever he went, he’s found the right environment at Cagliari, but he’s a champion in the head. He lives for his performance and that of the group.

“The national team? He’ll work to be ready. At the World Cup we need the best players for the national team, and right now that’s Marco.

“Despite his 30 [34] years, biologically he’s 10 years younger. He’s a serious professional.”
