The Partenopei face their Tuscan rivals at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico on Saturday evening, and after their meeting with Pope Francis this morning, the club’s owner has given his take on the match.
“It’s been a significant day for us and Fiorentina,” he told reporters outside the Vatican.
“We have both given Pope Francis a shirt with the No.1 on it.
“I said goodbye to [Fiorentina counterpart] Andrea Della Valle afterwards. We are friends and business associates.
“We’re also linked because we came through the lower Leagues and struggled to get where we are now.
“Tomorrow’s going to be a good game. May the best team win.”
