Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis declares “give me the chance and I’ll buy Hajduk Split”.
The Croatian club has suffered numerous financial issues in recent years, and is currently owned by fans.
“Give me the chance and I’ll buy Hajduk,” De Laurentiis told sportske.jutarnji.hr after the European Club Association summit.
“We played a friendly game in Split.
“Will Edy Reja go to Hajduk? You’d have to ask the President. I’m constantly in contact with Reja, I’ve been calling him constantly for years, ever since we returned to Serie A, to get him to come and help me at Napoli and he refuses.
“That’s why I was surprised when he told me he’d willingly come to Hajduk. I don’t understand why this club is so low and I’m ready to talk about it, but not with the fans: with the directors.
“I recently took over Bari, the mayor of Bari accepted my offer. But that doesn’t mean I don’t care about Hajduk. Everything has to be analysed.
“Reja told me that the club is in the hands of the fans, and they’ll fight at all costs to stop it being privately owned.”
