The Swedish striker has been described as “in love” with Naples by his agent, Mino Raiola, and it appears the feeling may be mutual.

“My dream signing? I always try to go forward with what I have,” De Laurentiis said in an interview with Walter Ventroni.

“One I would like though is that giant who is at Manchester United now. I had him as a dinner guest in Los Angeles and he’s incredibly nice, even though he always seems angry.

“You know the one I’m talking about, right.”

De Laurentiis was also asked about the various Coaches of his Partenopei reign.

“They’ve all contributed to my growth, each one had their own strengths and weaknesses, Coaches are people at the end of the day.

“[Edy] Reja had his advantages, as did [Walter] Mazzarri. Walter, with relatively expensive players, took us to some memorable games in the Champions League.

“[Rafa] Benitez was also instrumental in our growth, given his knowledge of international football. Maybe he didn’t know the Italian market and the League, given the disagreements he had at Inter.

“I can’t complain about him, if [Gonzalo] Higuain hadn’t missed a few too many penalties we’d have finished second or third instead of fifth.

“Sarri? There were two things I liked about him. I read an article comparing his matches throughout the season and I thought to myself ‘if he knows so well how to play with players who aren’t big names, surely he’ll do well if I put Higuain, [Jose] Callejon and [Pepe] Reina in his hands.

“I was crazy about the fact that he was a staunch communist and great reader, Sarri is a man with a great sense of responsibility and I like that.

“He’s not a man who tries to hide behind a cause and then I also liked his tracksuit – if he wears that, it means I can ask for more money from Lete or the other sponsors. It’s a never-ending advert!”
