There’s a proposal to introduce second squads to the Lega Pro, but there’s confusion about when this will be implemented and how it will actually work.

“I’ve talked about it for a long time,” De Laurentiis said in today’s Press conference.

“But some want it cooked, some want it raw and in the end something will be decided that no-one is satisfied with.

“Everyone has their needs, I don’t want a team in Serie C, but one where the players outside of the first team squad can play.

“It’s one thing to make them play in Serie B, quite another in C. It’s less athletic and more stultifying, they kick you and there’s a risk of injury.

“It’s easy to talk, but is there an organisational design? Do you want to copy Spain, or are are you just opening your mouth to hear yourself talk like in the last few days.

“Those who speak for the institutions aren’t connected with the reality inside a club, that’s just a fact.

“The problem is we don’t even know what the Federation will be like, I’m worried for Italian football!

“We need to start everything from zero. Serie A could even leave the Federation if we’re not convinced of the changes, the commissioner really has to reset everything.

“I’ve already said that the referees shouldn’t be in the FIGC, with a political stance and even a vote! You’re a referee, you don’t get to vote!

“The referees must rely on the Lega to pay them handsomely, taking ones from abroad too, and if you make a mistake three times you go home!

“That’s the only way to improve.”

De Laurentiis spoke last week of signing a striker from another league who has 20 goals, does that mean Dries Martens will leave?

“I just said we got him, but he’s a out-and-out striker.”
