Adana Demirspor coach Vincenzo Montella has personally set up a humanitarian association to help those affected by the recent earthquakes in Turkey.

Earlier this month, a major earthquake struck in south-east Turkey, causing the tragic deaths of thousands and the loss of homes and other infrastructure across the region.

The 48-year-old Montella has been coaching Adana Demirspor since September 2021 and has found success in the Turkish Super Lig, giving him some stability after a turbulent few years in Serie A.

As announced on Instagram, Montella has set up the humanitarian association Vincenzo Montella Emergency’ to help victims of the recent earthquake, raising funds to help support those affected.

Writing in his announcement, the 48-year-old Italian coach called for the support and donations of those who wish to help.

“As of today, it is possible to donate for concrete support to the Turkish population, hit by the tragic earthquake on 6 February, through the Humanitarian Association ‘VINCENZO MONTELLA EMERGENCY’. Together we can really help.”

On the association’s website, the two stated principle objectives are “the construction of prefabricated houses to provide housing for the homeless” and “funds to ensure adequate education for the many orphaned children.”

The city of Adana, where his club are located, was not far from the epicentre of the earthquake in south-eastern Turkey.
