Officials have come in for inevitable criticism this season from some quarters of the Press, players, fans and Presidents alike.

But the governing body's chief has claimed that the problem is not with the quality, as Champions League final referee Nicola Rizzoli has shown, but the scrutiny officials are under.

“Rizzoli and Orsato have shown that problem with referees is not the quality, but the climate, the atmosphere, the difficulties they face in doing their job,” he told Radio Uno.

“Teams have to thing about this.”
