La Gazzetta dello Sport pointed out that last time Inter beat Juventus 2-0 at San Siro, the Nerazzurri won the Treble and the Bianconeri finished seventh in the League, 27 points behind their rivals.

Pirlo’s men are currently fifth in Serie A, seven points behind Inter, but with one game in hand. Milan share the lead with the Nerazzurri, but could claim sole first again with at least one point against Cagliari tonight.

One year ago, with Sarri at the helm, the Bianconeri were tied with Inter at the top of the standings with 42 points from 17 games, meaning Pirlo has collected nine points less than the former Napoli coach.

Pirlo has also matched the worst start to a season under Allegri, as the Old Lady picked up 33 points in 17 games in 2015-16.

Roberto Mancini’s Inter were first in the League at that point, but only three points above the Bianconeri and eventually the Nerazzurri finished fourth.

Allegri’s men however, were in the middle of a run of 15 consecutive wins and 25 in 26 games, eventually winning the League with a nine-point gap down to Napoli at second.
