Spanish official Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea has been confirmed as the referee for Italy’s upcoming Nations League match at home to Israel on Monday evening.

Referess confirmed for Italy-Israel

De Burgos will be accompanied by assistant referees Iker De Francisco and Alfredo Rodriguez Moreno, while Pablo Gonzalez Fuertes will take on the role of fourth official.

De Burgos has never previously refereed Italy in any competition, but has refereed matches involving Italian sides before: A 4-2 win for Milan at home against Celtic in the Europa League in 2020, and another 4-2 win in the Europa League groups, but for Lazio over Feyenoord in 2022 on that occasion.

Italy will host Israel at the Stadio Friuli, regular home of Udinese, on Monday evening, kicking off at 19.45 BST.

The Azzurri picked up a 2-1 win ‘away’ against Israel in Hungary when the two nations met last month.

Luciano Spalletti and the team have since picked up a 2-2 draw at home against Belgium, despite playing all of the second half with 10 men, and are still at the top of the Nations League’s League A Group 2 after with seven points from three matches.
