Niccolo Pisilli has revealed that Inter midfielder Davide Frattesi is the player that has impressed him the most in the early days of his career with the Italy national team senior squad.

The Roma youngster gave his first press conference with the senior Azzurri side on Tuesday, after the confirmation of his first call-up to Luciano Spalletti’s Azzurri squad for Nations League fixtures against Belgium and Israel later this week.

Pisilli picks ‘most impressive’ Italy player

Pisilli, 20, was asked which player has impressed him the most during his introductory press conference on Tuesday.

He replied: “I haven’t had many games yet, but from the stands, I’ve seen the intensity that Frattesi plays with. He’s impressed me a lot.”

Frattesi is currently the leading goalscorer for Italy since Luciano Spalletti took charge last summer, adding two more to his tally with goals against Israel and France in September’s Nations League matches.

Both players are in the squad for the Belgium and Israel matches, although Tuesday’s reports suggest that they are unlikely to play alongside each other, as Pisilli is currently considered as an understudy for Frattesi.
