Milan fans’ support in the Derby della Madonnina against Inter won’t be unconditional, as they’re ready to protest again in the event of another dismal display from Paulo Fonseca’s side.

Milan meet city rivals Inter on Sunday. The Rossoneri have had a poor start to the season, with just one win in five matches. On Tuesday, players were booed after a 3-1 home loss to Liverpool in the Champions League.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Milan’s Curva Sud will support their players against Inter on Sunday. Therefore, they have already prepared a choreography before the match and will make chants to support the team during the game.

However, their attitude will change if things get bad during the match, as it happened against Liverpool. On that occasion, the final whistle was welcomed by heavy boos from the fans, who also urged the players to “show some balls”.

Support from Milan’s Curva Sud won’t be unconditional in Derby della Madonnina

The ultras of Milan’s Curva Sud, located in the blue section of San Siro’s second tier, will not spare their players further criticism if they fail to put up a fight against city rivals Inter. On paper, Milan’s fixture is an away fixture, so Rossoneri fans are only allowed in Curva Sud.

In case of defeat, boos and chants of protest are expected from the fans, who would make their voice heard after a miserable start to the season that saw Milan win just one match, against Venezia, of the five they played across Serie A and Champions League.

As a result, coach Paulo Fonseca’s job is already on the line and another defeat would surely mean the end of his time at San Siro.

Milan last won a Derby della Madonnina in September 2022 and have since lost all the following six clashes against Inter, who could set a new record in the fixture’s history by winning seven consecutive derbies.
