Milan can breathe an ever-so-slight sigh of relief after receiving an update on the condition of Mike Maignan, who was substituted off shortly after the start of the second half in Tuesday night’s 3-1 loss at home to Liverpool in the Champions League.

Milan receive positive Maignan update

According to Wednesday’s updates, Maignan has suffered some bruising to his knee, but the blow is not particularly serious and the club will not turn to the free agent market in search of a replacement.

In fact, he will be monitored again over the next few days and he could even return to the starting line-up for the weekend’s Derby della Madonnina against Inter

If Maignan is not fit enough by Sunday, Milan will reward 19-year-old Lorenzo Torriani with his first Serie A start.

Torriani made his competitive debut in the Champions League when he came on to replace Maignan after 51 minutes. The teenager received lots of praise after his encouraging performances during Milan’s pre-season tour of the United States.

  1. And yet he acted in the most immature manner possible. Instead of walking off and parting with encouragement to his teammates, he goes off without even showing his face. And this is supposed to be one of the experienced players. Hopefully he won’t recover so torriani can play.
