Milan director Geoffrey Moncada has been in contact with Monaco to try and mend the rift for Youssouf Fofana after Manchester United’s emergence.

The Rossoneri have been seriously interested in the 25-year-old Frenchman for a number of weeks now and have already agreed personal terms with the midfielder, who is willing to sign a four-year contract with an option for a fifth worth around €3m net per season plus €500,000 in add-ons.

Milan have been unable to agree a deal with Monaco for Fofana, with their €17m offer failing to convince due to his €25m price tag. Manchester United are also interested in a move for the 25-year-old, complicating matters.

Milan look to mend Fofana rift

Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com details how Milan director Moncada contacted Monaco on Thursday to try and close the distance for Fofana. The Ligue 1 club were unhappy that personal terms were agreed before talks were opened between the two teams.

Manchester United have been in contact with the French midfielder’s entourage, adding pressure onto the Rossoneri’s mission as they push to set up a deal for the 25-year-old.

  1. It always makes me laugh when you write ‘personal terms agreed’. It means absolutely nothing. We saw it previously with Botman and Sanches, both of whom ended up elsewhere because Milan couldn’t compete vs richer clubs. In fact, both players ended up with better wages elsewhere as well. Zirkzee the same.
IF Man Utd are seriously interested, Milan have no chance in the current climate. 25m euro is nothing to a premier league club, and they’ll most likely be able to offer at least double in wages.

  2. This is a young national team player, with salary of 3.5M if you are a serious and ambitious company then what are you waiting for?
