Despite the last-ditch Fiorentina attempt, Atalanta have reportedly shaken hands with Galatasaray for Nicolò Zaniolo on loan with option to buy for a total €22m that could become an obligation.
It has been a duel for over a week between the two clubs, who are offering very similar packages to the Turkish team and to the player.
The Viola tried one last time to one-up their rivals, but multiple sources this evening including Sky Sport Italia, Fabrizio Romano and Calciomercato.com all claim this is a done deal for Atalanta.
Zaniolo to Atalanta – the details
Gianluca Di Marzio notes Zaniolo will make the move on loan for €3.5m with an option to buy for a further €16m plus up to €2.5m in bonuses.
This becomes an obligation to make it permanent if he plays in 60-65 per cent of their games over the course of the season.
There are a few different versions of how the cost of the operation is split between the loan, salary and option, but all come out to roughly €22-23m.
There could even be a medical as early as Thursday, with Sportitalia picking midday local time.
The Italy international just returned from a loan spell with Aston Villa and celebrated his 25th birthday yesterday.
As a present, he gets the move back to Serie A that he was pushing so hard for.
#Zaniolo–#Atalanta. Visite nelle prossime ore, forse già domani. Sarà un prestito a 3 milioni e mezzo; 16 milioni di obbligo di riscatto al 60% delle presenze stagionali, più bonus (circa 2.5). Totali intorno a quota 22/23. @SkySport

Gasperini going to turn him around like he did de ketelere and Scamacca
This Atalanta is gonna become too much to handle for serie-A clubs…seeing their young, strong and technical players at their disposal, I wouldn’t be surprise if the scudetto is between them and intermilan.
This is the way! Bring back other Italian talents like Tonali, Verrati, Bernardeschi!
Hopefully you are correct Mike. The Nazionale could use an effective Zaniolo!
@madis Bernardeschi??? LOL
@Mike
Tonali is too expensive. Verratti and Bernardeschi have gone chasing the money. Their time seems gone.
