Reports in Italy claim Antonio Conte will meet Giovanni Di Lorenzo’s agent next week to persuade the Italian international to remain at the Stadio Maradona.

Napoli captain Di Lorenzo is unhappy at Napoli after being told that the club would listen to offers for him this summer.

However, Conte sees the Italy international as a vital part of the squad he’s building for 2024-25, so he is determined to push for his stay.

Di Lorenzo: Conte set to meet agent of unhappy Napoli and Italy defender

According to Gazzetta and other Italian sources, Conte will meet Di Lorenzo’s agent next week hoping to convince the experienced Italian defender to stay at the Stadio Maradona.

Di Lorenzo has already been linked with a move to Juventus and was booed in the final game of the season against Lecce.

The defender’s agent, Mario Giuffredi, said before Conte’s appointment as Napoli’s coach that his client wanted to leave regardless of the new boss at the Stadio Maradona.

Di Lorenzo had held talks with Napoli before Conte’s appointment, but the Italian tactician, according to Gazzetta, considers the team’s captain ‘unsellable’.

Di Lorenzo became the first Napoli captain to lift the Scudetto trophy in 33 years in 2022-23 under Spalletti and has been included by the Tuscan tactician in Italy’s squad for Euro 2024.
